To complete a variety of accounting clerical duties in accordance with standard procedures.
Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities
o Posts and balances subsidiary ledgers or accounts.
o Examines and codes invoices or vouchers for proper accounting distribution.
o Prepares, adjusts and closes journal entries.
o Prepares complex budget or income and expenditure reports.
o Analyzes accounting records to determine cause or results shown
o Verifies math accuracy, internal consistency and completeness of accounting documents.
o Assigns codes and post ledgers or subsidiary accounts.
o Traces transactions through previous accounting actions to determine sources of discrepancies and makes necessary corrections.
o Posts and closes certain accounting records such as receivables, payables and reconciliations.
o Assists in the preparation of accounting statements or reports.
o May assist in training other Accounting Clerks.
Job Requirements
o Requires High School Diploma/GED
o Requires 3 to 4 years of previous related experience.
o Requires math skills at a level to complete one or two step math operations.
o Experienced in computer skills: word processing and/or spreadsheet.
o Experienced in using spreadsheet software to format spreadsheets, format columns, move and copy data, create charts and graphs, and create one or two step math operations.
o Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with associates at all levels of the company.
o Excellent editing and proofing skills.
Physical Environment
o Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment
o Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal
o Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday
o Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
